Rønde - A vibrant commercial centre at the top
Rønde is a commercial town with specialty shops, good
supermarkets and restaurants. Over the year, there are many
different activities in this town. For
example, during the summer, there is a hawker's market in
June and Open by Night in July. In September, the event
"Stafet for livet" (relay for life) takes place
in the town park - a large event with music, entertainment,
relay race etc. for the benefit of The Danish Cancer Society.
Behind the street with shops, there is a lovely town park with
a large nature playground, where you can enjoy life after
exploring the many shops of the town. www.roendehandel.dk
The town is located at the gateway to the national
park Mols Bjerge, with a view of Kalø Bay and Mols
Bjerge. Kalø castle ruins are located only 2 km from
Rønde
town centre and are a popular place to visit all year round
for locals as well as guests. The castle was built on a desert
island in Kalø Bay, which was connected to the mainland
through an artificial dam. Today, the dam is still part of
the approx. 1.5-km road to the ruins. On the parking lot
at the road to the ruins, veteran cars from all over the
country gather every Tuesday afternoon. Furthermore, the site
is the starting place of many activities all year round and
hikes in the nearby forests. The forests are plentiful in
ancient monuments representing the entire period from
the Stone Age to the historic present. In the
Kalø forests, the television station DR TV is holding
its role playing event called Bardatræf, as the
only location in the country.
In 2013, there will be special focus on Kalø castle ruins in connection with the ruins' 700th anniversary. Over the year, there will be a wide selection of cultural and mediation-related events for children as well as adults. See more about the events on www.nationalparkmolsbjerge.dk
